They say that Minamoto no Yoshiie dropped by this shrine in 1051 (Eisho 6th) on his way to Oshu-Kassen (Osyu Battle) and prayed for a victory with setting up an altar, and after winning the victory he revisited here and had Iwashimizu-Hachimangu be relocated. The existing shrine pavilion was rebuilt during Kyoho Period of Edo Era.
