Fukan-reijo has the grave of Fukan Shonin, the originator of Ontake-kyo. Fukan Shonin is a Shinto ngagpa (mikko-gyojya) who established the otakiguchi in the front mountain path of Mt. Ontake-san in Kiso region and was blessed with a string of miracles. This place is one of the destinations of Bushu Honjo Shichifukujin Meguri and enshrines Daikokusonten.
