It is said that three shishimai masks were dedicated to expel evil spirits by a feudal lord who had witnessed the devastation caused by droughts and the prevalence of serious diseases occurred in this region in the middle of Edo Period. The dedication and the circulation around the village of shishimai are performed on the festival day.
